Regiment: 1st Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Canton May 28 1861 i recived your leter to day and was glad to here from you and here that you are well but was very sorey to here that george was sick your leter stated that he was giting beter i hope that by the time that you git this he will be up and a round i want you to be very carfrel with your self and tell george and Murey to due the same we are all in good helth at presant we think a bout you all ourbey we have plenty of trats here halt went to ypsilanti and begun with his stuff and they give him 15 minits to live the sity the had to start his boots tell the boys all to write to some of us as oftan as they can we are a goin to rais at sa youning flag at Sheldons Sevntieday we all shal be glad to have youall return in good helth i have just finished planting corn this morning your rigment has the prays in every paper your mother wants you to write as often, as you can tell Murey to send some wourd too no more at present M D Baker. P Baker Dear Brothers and Husband Thomas I was very thankfull for your kind words of satisfaction to me I was very glad to her you was all well but very sory to here that George was ill but i feele beter to here he was beter than he was but tell him to put his trust in the Lord I have bin quite ansious to her his mind about his sole Thomas give your hart to the Lord he has promes to help those that trust in him tell Mery to not forgit my [ ? ] to him for if i never meet you again on earth i want to meat you in heaven you have my prars daly the Lord has promest to anser prare Thomas i want fi you have a chanse to talk with George tell him for me that if he writes that i want him to let me no his mind and if he is ready to die if the Lord sese fit to call after him tell him that my trust is in the Lord and i am well little dwelly has got a quite a bad hile on his chin it makes him qite [ ? ] [ ? ] was down home friday last and was well Father wants you when you write to tell if all the boys all the [ ? ] you must be very very careful of your selfs take good care of your health tell george to keep up good couredg and trust in the Lord he will do all things well you must excuse my bad writen and speling for i am very much esated and bubled i can harldy tell how to make my leters i want you all to write often my prere is that you may have good luck and all retur to your hapy homes on earth and be prepared for a beter world so good by from your affectionate sister Lany E Baker
