About the Author
Albert A. Shaver was residing in Emerson, Michigan when he enlisted in the 26th Michigan Infantry Company D as a Private on August 13, 1862. He was mustered into service on September 15 at the age of 22 and was later promoted to Corporal. Shaver was listed as being wounded on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia and on April 6, 1865 at Sailor’s Creek, Virginia. Albert A.
