About the Author
Charles H. Ramsdell, of Dover, Michigan, enlisted as a Corporal in the 18th Michigan Infantry Company C on August 5, 1862 at Adrian, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 26 at the age of 19. On September 15, 1864, Ramsdell was promoted to Sergeant. Action at Athens, Alabama on September 24 left him severely wounded in his left arm, causing it to be amputated. Charles H. Ramsdell died of his wounds on December 20 at Adrian, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
