About the Author
Dexter D. Keeler, of East Saginaw, Michigan, enlisted as a Sergeant in the 23rd Michigan Infantry Company B on August 6, 1862. He was mustered into service at the age of 26 on September 11. Keller received several promotions including: 1st Sergeant; Assistant Quartermaster, 2nd Division 23rd Army Corps, June 1864 to May 1865; Sergeant Major, March 29, 1863; 2nd Lieutenant, June 25; 1st Lieutenant, October 6, 1864; and, Captain, December 29. Dexter D. Keeler was discharged on June 28, 1865 at Salisbury, North Carolina.Documents for this Author:
