About the Author
Robert B. Jefferds, of Lansing, Michigan, enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant in the 3rd Michigan Infantry Company G on May 10, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service on June 10 at the age of 37. On August 1, Jefferds was promoted to Captain. Robert B. Jefferds resigned and was discharged for disability on June 9, 1862.
