About the Author
George W. Harris, of Lowell, Michigan, enlisted at the age of 19 in the 3rd Michigan Infantry Company F on May 13, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service on June 10 as a Private. Harris was listed as missing on July 1, 1862 at White Oak Swamp, Virginia. He returned on August 8 at Harrison’s Landing, Virginia. He participated in the Second Battle of Bull Run (August 28-30, 1862) and was injured. George W. Harris was discharged for disability on December 19 at Washington, D. C.Documents for this Author:
