Alfred M. Gardner, of Allegan County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 3rd Michigan Infantry Company I on May 13, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service on June 10 at the age of 22. Gardner was listed as being wounded at Fair Oaks, Virginia on May 31, 1862. Alfred M.
