About the Author
Luther Franklin, of Gratiot County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 5th Michigan Infantry Company C on August 14, 1861 in Fort Wayne, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 28 at the age of 19. Franklin was shot in his left groin on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Luther Franklin died from his wounds on July 30. He is buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at gravesite MI-E-2.Documents for this Author:
