About the Author

Abram H. Drake enlisted at the age of 29 as a Private in the 1st Michigan Engineers Company C on December 29, 1863 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service on January 4, 1864. He was promoted to an artificer and later to Corporal on June 7, 1865. Abram H. Drake was discharged from service on September 22 in Nashville, Tennessee.
