Archibald P. Campbell resided in Port Huron, Michigan when he enlisted as a Captain in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company K on September 2, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 29 on October 2. Campbell was promoted to Colonel on July 1, 1862 and then to Lieutenant Colonel on July 13. In April of 1863, he had command of the 4th Brigade and from May to March 1864 he commanded the 1st Brigade. Archibald P.
