About the Author
Edward S. Bragg was born on February 20, 1827 in Unadilla, New York. He was residing in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin when he enlisted as a Captain in the 6th Wisconsin Infantry Company E on May 5, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 34 that same day. On September 17, Bragg was transferred from Company E to Field and Staff and was promoted to Major. He was promoted several other times, including: Lieutenant Colonel, June 21, 1862; Colonel, March 10, 1863; and, Brigadier General, June 25, 1864. Bragg was listed as being wounded at Antietam, Maryland on September 17, 1862. Edward S. Bragg was discharged from service on October 9, 1865. He died on June 20, 1912 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.Documents for this Author:
